John’s Disposal Service

John’s Disposal Service, Inc. provides garbage and recycling collection services in the Town.

Starting with your 1st quarter, 2024 Sanitary District No. 4 bill, you will notice a $2.40 increase per unit per quarter. Although the Town makes every attempt to avoid increasing costs, we believe that John’s Disposal can provide the service and care that our residents deserve.

John’s Disposal Service Inc. provides many benefits to Town residents. Residents are able to schedule one bulk item collection per month at NO additional cost, and each of these bulk pick-ups can include multiple items. Bulk collection includes  furniture, appliances (including Freon appliances), bedding, carpeting (rolled, tied, and no more than 4 feet in length), and other large items. Waste oil, automotive antifreeze, lead acid batteries and tires are also included. Construction materials that are contained in 32-gallon cans that weigh less than 60-pounds are also allowed in the bulk items collection with no limit on the number of containers. Tires are also included in bulk item pick-ups (maximum of 8 small vehicle tires per home per year, and not to exceed 2 per month). Electronics, such as computers, printers, TV, and DVD players are available for pick-up as well. Each electronic item will count as one bulk pick-up.

Yard Waste

The yard waste schedule is also sent out with your tax bill each year and included on the Town Calendar along with other important town happenings.

Yard Waste Specifications:

1. Grass, leaves and garden debris shall be contained in brown paper yard waste bags or an unlined, 32-gallon can with handles
2. Brush (branches less than 6 inches in diameter) must be cut into 4 foot lengths and bundled securely with the bundles not to exceed 1 1/2 feet in diameter
3. No bag, bundle, or can, shall weigh more than 60 pounds
4. Neighboring communities have stated their collection sites are for their residents ONLY

Remember, yard waste must be at the curb the night before the scheduled pick up.

Phones & Batteries

Cell phone and cell phone batteries and other rechargeable batteries MUST be properly disposed of in Wisconsin. Batteries should NOT be thrown away in the recycling bins. Reduce Public Health Risks by Proper Disposal of Household Medical Sharps

Waukesha (WI) – Waukesha County would like to remind residents that improperly disposing of medical sharps poses a public health risk along with the potential to injure haulers and recycling facility workers. To reduce public health risks, Wisconsin rules require all citizens to manage sharps safely. It is illegal to put sharps in the trash or with recyclables and there are several options for safe disposal:

• Contact your pharmacy, doctor, clinic or local hospital; many health care facilities accept sharps but are not legally required to register and therefore may not appear on the list of registered sharps collection stations.
• Take sharps to a registered collection station. To find a site in Waukesha County go to www.waukeshacounty.gov/recycling and click on Medical under Product Disposal.
• Use a “mail-back” sharps program, which can be found by searching the internet. The company should provide containers and packaging which meet U.S. postal regulations.

“We want to make sure residents understand that if they dispose of their medical needles and sharps improperly, they are putting workers who collect their recyclables and trash at risk. Much of this work is done by hand, creating a hazardous situation for people who are providing a service to all of us,” stated Rebecca Mattano, Recycling & Solid Waste Supervisor for Waukesha County.
